Dr. Crippen is Professor of Critical Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Neurological Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical center in Pittsburgh, PA. He is a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine, the European society of Intensive Care Medicine and charter member of the Neurocritical Care Society. To date, Dr. Crippen has developed and delivered over 500 formal lectures on clinical topics in critical care and emergency medicine for National and International medical educational meetings. In addition, Dr. Crippen has authored numerous critical care medicine textbook chapters and edited four medical texts, with s fifth in progress.

21 years ago, Dr. Crippen developed an International clinical and academic Internet mailing list and website for critical care providers. The site, CCM-L (Critical Care Medicine-List) offers resources for a group of over 1000 multinational participants. Dr. Crippen is interested in ethical and clinical issues of severe brain injury, brain death and withholding/withdrawing life supporting technology in the ICU. When not pursuing clinical duties, Dr. Crippen spends a lot of time on the Internet, owns three vintage British Triumph motorcycles and tours all over the world on a BMW motorcycle.
